Now
we are in lucky... already I have 4 Lamprologus Ocellatus! I have prepared
them a specify aquarium for single them by two reasons.
First it is the aggressiveness that demonstrates towards other fish
that go up to around another one or its species or his territory. That
I say fish... Making a small change in the aquarium one of them bit
my hand when happening near its shell. Naturally it did not do anything
to me but I am surprising the so aggressive character. It is not strange
to me that it survives in the lake with other cichlids of greater size.
The
second is that I want to be able to observe them with detail and if
I have luck to get to reproduce them.
It is fascinating as they open the nutgalls to make but its head great
to intimidate the opponent. It really gives to a prehistoric worthy
aspect of Jurasic Park movies
Another Thing
to emphasize is the form to excavate that they have, like buldocers
nails the mouth in the sand and take impulse moving the tail with great
force moving it with the tail towards the shell. They do not make a
hole and they bury the shell but they accumulates earth around the shell
until burying it.
The
aggressiveness of this species is demonstrated in the ferociti that
shows in the defense of the territory. They bites my hand when I put
it near the shell.
In
the inferior photos we can see the sequence of a fight to throw to an
intruder, the poor man when leaves one falls in the territory of which
it seems to be a female that does not receives it either very well...
Protecting the entrance
Attention! an intruder in the territory
One approaches slowly
One approaches extending the fins
But close...
Returns and...
the intruder goes away
Return to watch
The intruder catched between two fires
When entering another territory quickly it is detected
Threats to the intruder...
In
view of the aggressiveness which they show among them I raise to introduce
some other species of fish of free swimming that distracts a little
to them its continuous confrontations. I have tried it with a young
cylindricus and it has not given result. The first day the cylindricus
was distressed but to the following day he was the master and any ocellatus
was able to stand up to him expensive. I decide to remove it and to
give back it to the shop... Some friends recommend to me to introduce
Chinese neons but I am not sure that the neons hold envites of ocellatus...
So far it will wait a little to see as the behavior of ocellatus evolves
before making a decision.
